use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the DSCVR mobile application
(the "App"). Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the
practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Account information: email address and password when you register
- Profile information: display name, profile photo, and bio
- User-generated content: reviews, check-ins, photos, and videos you post
- Messages: direct messages and group chats you send to other users
- Payment information: processed securely by Stripe; we do not store full card details
Information collected automatically:
- Location data: with your permission, to show nearby places and events
- Camera and microphone: with your permission, to record videos and take photos
- Photo library: with your permission, to select images for posts and reviews
- Device information: device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers
- Usage data: features accessed, pages viewed, and interactions within the App
- Push notification tokens: to send you relevant notifications (with your permission)
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and manage your account
- Display personalized content, nearby places, and events
- Process ticket purchases and reservations
- Enable communication between users
- Send push notifications about activity relevant to you
- Improve the App's features, performance, and user experience
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service
3. Third-Party Services
DSCVR integrates with the following third-party services, each with its own privacy policy:
- Firebase (Google) – authentication, database, and cloud storage
- Stripe – secure payment processing for ticket purchases
- Google Places API – location search and place data
- Ticketmaster API – event discovery and ticket information
- Eventbrite API – event discovery and ticket information
- Google Gemini AI – AI-powered features and recommendations
These third parties may collect information as governed by their own privacy policies.

4. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in these circumstances:
- With other users, for content you choose to post publicly (reviews, check-ins, posts)
- With service providers listed above who help us operate the App

5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to
provide services. You may delete your account at any time through the App's Settings.
Upon deletion, your personal information will be removed within 30 days, except where
retention is required by law.
6. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Opt out of marketing communications
- Withdraw consent for location, camera, or notification access at any time via device settings

7. Children's Privacy
DSCVR is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect
personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently
collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
8. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission
(HTTPS/TLS), Firebase security rules, and Stripe's PCI-compliant payment processing.
However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot
guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the
"Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy
periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the
updated policy.
